The program is in collaboration between the Childbirth Center, Pastoral Care and volunteers.
Kathleen Berube, Director of Volunteer Services, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME won for their "Volunteer Ambassador Program" a High Impact Volunteer Services Program. This program provides support to patients, families and staff. The Ambassadors welcome patients and their families to Maine Medical Center and provide them with information on hospital services as well as serve as an avenue for any special needs.
This prestigious Presidents Award is given in recognition for innovative administration, effective collaboration, or the ability to create a "high impact" volunteer program. Please start thinking about your new programs and recording the initiative, program effectiveness and outcomes for next year’s application.
All NEADHVS members with the exception of state presidents and the professional development chair are eligible to submit one application for a program or management technique that has been operational for a period of at least 12 months, which indicates its viability.
The collection of applications and the judging process were coordinated by the professional development chair and then carefully considered and judged by the association’s state presidents. Successful applicants demonstrated how their volunteers, program and /or management technique furthered the mission of their individual organizations.
